Journey to Self-Discovery
My name is Konnie. I got bit by the horse bug at around 6 years old. It was then that I started riding in a local hunter-jumper barn in Medford, NY. I spent the next 7 years dedicated to horses and competing in shows like The Hampton Classics. Around the time of my 13th birthday, my family had some hardships which prevented me from continuing, and I was heartbroken. Over the next 10 years I endured a series of traumatic events, landing me with a diagnosis of PTSD and severe generalized anxiety. I felt lost, broken, and had tried every form of therapy, as well as self-destruction, trying to find the girl I so deeply missed. I had just about run out of hope and felt helpless when I walked into Beautiful Day Farms, looking to feel the warm energy and comfort that horses once provided for me. It was that same day that I realized horses were my missing link, and although I was unsure how, I somehow knew they were the key to helping me heal.
During my time at Beautiful Day I learned I didn’t really know as much as I thought I did, and that horses had so much to teach me. My life led me to work in more show barns throughout NY, PA, and FL where many horses taught me, and helped me discover things I had never known about myself; such as strength, patience, and perseverance. Not everything I discovered about myself was favorable. It wasn’t until I moved to CO that I truly knew what I wanted to do with horses and why they were such a moving, inseparable force in my life.
Upon moving to CO I met Alice Billings, avid Wild Horse Advocate, Horsewoman, and Artist. I had never met a mustang before going to Alice’s property, but when I met her mare Liberty something ignited in my soul that changed my view of the horse world forever.

I spent the next few years learning Natural Horsemanship under a local trainer. During this time, I learned the importance of teaching horses with love instead of fear, and the importance of communication, personal leadership, and mutual partnership. I also had questions about how to keep evolving, so I started exploring deeper connections through mindfulness and various methods of humane training. This is when I started to feel the transformation within myself, and ultimately started seeing the transformation in the horses I worked with. I am forever grateful to the mentors I've learned from, and am so fortunate to have received their guidance.
My mission is to connect, educate, and transform the lives of mustangs and their adopters. It is my hope to share my experience in order to help horses and humans find their happy place, just as I did. I believe horses can help transform us, just as much as we can help transform them. Allow me to guide you and/or your horse towards finding confidence, inner peace, a voice, and balance of love.
